Hi I’m Abby and I am a 17 year old girl. I am part of the primary target audience for
the film Luna. I am more likely to watch coming of age films than boys. I
especially like films like Luna, as they have a strong female protagonist. I am
at the age where I am studying for my A levels, so when I see Luna at the
beginning I can relate greatly. It is also relatable as I can see an acceptance
letter for a university in one of the opening shots. I also understand what it
is like to be in love. This is shown through the introduction of the male lead,
who she sneaks off to meet. I am not the only girl who may dream about this love,
as it is often seen in coming of age films. I too have a good relationship with
my mum, so I know that through the caring nature of her mum I will find this
directly relatable. The music also helps to set the tone and genre of the film.
This is because I like music which is similar to this. It is also quite
romantic and happy which keeps me interested. Moreover the opening sequence is
set in a house, very similar to the one I live in, meaning I understand her
position as a character.
