Filming/Editing Diary 7

20/01/16

Today we went back to the location to reshoot some of the scenes. This is because after looking at our opening sequence and getting feedback from target audience members, we realised that it didn't make sense for it to be light outside. This also gave us a chance to reshoot any scenes that we weren't happy with.
We filmed after school as we had already planned what needed to be re-filmed. We filmed from 5-7, which gave us plenty of time to film. Filming at this time of day meant it would be dark enough outside for our audience to firmly believe that our protagonist was sneaking out of her house.
Not everyone could stay for the whole of the shoot due to other commitments, but we had already filmed most of what was needed by the time she had to leave.
Although, we had to change actors again, it was the original actor, which we had chosen. This was helpful he already knew what was going on. All we had to do was explain what we wanted to reshoot and anything in particular we wanted the actors to do which we though may improve the film.

We also used a different camera for this task, as another groups were borrowing our camera. However this worked out in our favour, as there were less lighting issues and a better quality of the overall image.

This time I decided that we should shoot the scene where Luna looks out the window the opposite way round. This would give the audience a better view of Kyle and his character, giving more of an insight in to what might happen. I though this worked rather well and decided to replace the old footage with the new one.

Today was more productive than other shoots as we knew exactly what needed to be reshot and what didn’t. This meant we didn’t waste as much time trying out different angles for each shot because we knew what worked and what didn’t. The entire cast and crew worked really well together to complete the job at hand in such a short amount of time.

I added a small black screen at the start of this edit where only the music plays. I think this is really effective as it takes its time to get into the film. This highlights the style and what sort of atmosphere we are looking for. I also added in the shots from the re-shoot which keep, which make our film look more professional.

Even though in previous edits I kept the pan at the end I decided that I didn't want it anymore. This is due to the fact it was too long and doesn't add very much to the opening sequence.
