Filming/Editing Diary 3

18/12/15

Today we did another shoot this is so that we could get some more shots for the film. In previous footage I noticed that filming after school didn't give us enough time to gather a large variety of angles, even though we kept trying to re-film. We filmed from around 12-7. This way we would be able to add some more shots/ camera angles to the film. It also meant that it gave the actors another chance to shoot some scenes that we didn't think went quite right or they felt they needed to do again.

We re-filmed all of the still-shots at the beginning of the opening sequence. We had to make sure that each still shot included mise-en-scene that related to our protagonist. This includes books and textbooks. We made sure to film as many different still-shots as possible, so that we would have a variety of shots to choose from during the editing process.

We then looked at our original footage and decided which scenes needed re-filming, before the actors arrived at 3 o'clock. However we already knew that we didn't need to reshoot any of the scenes with Kyle in as we though they looked okay. Due to the inconsistencies with the first part we just re-shot the other scenes with the window in them to keep it consistent. We felt that this was easier than reshooting the entire scene as some of them were good.

As with the other two shoots we made sure that we tried out a wide range of camera angles, just to make sure that we could have a look and see what the footage looked like when it comes to editing. We filmed each shot and made sure to focus on getting a wide variety of angles in each scene.

This allowed us to get is all the relevant footage needed to create the next edit.
In this edit I have put in the soundtrack, which I think would be good for our opening sequence. This is because it has a great pace and really fits in well with the film. However I have changed the music half way through to create a slightly faster paced section. I hoped it would highlight the idea of sneaking out and that it’s not the same as her clam relaxed nature as seen before.
I also decided to experiment with some typography to see what suited the film and what didn't. As before it would let me know if it worked well with the clips or sequence as a whole.

I have also added the distribution company logo clip at the start of the film.
