Conventions of an Opening Sequence

Here are some examples of my class mates work:

By Keeva Holder

By Jaimie Hmapton

Learning Comment:

This task was useful as I was able to fully identify what the codes and conventions of an opening sequence are. The main ones are:
•   Productions Logo
•   Sound
•   Mise-en-scene
•   Title sequence
•   Establishing shot
•   Narrative content
•   Soundtrack
•   Camera angles

All of these help to create a better opening sequence. it has also given me ideas about what I may want to use in my own opening sequence.  As seen in other films each director has a distinct style when it comes to creating opening sequences and often put their own twist on a typical element. I felt that the narrative revealed in Easy A was good as it gave the audience a real insight into the character and introduced the narrative fairly quickly.
