What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

(Please turn on sound)

Why is Film4 distributing Luna?

Luna is a great film for our company to distribute. This is due to the fact that we are a small company that likes to work with independent films and not Hollywood blockbusters. We normally distribute British films, which make us ideal to distribute Luna.

What films have you distributed in the past which makes you right to do the same with our film?

In the past we have made films such as Submarine, The Inbetweeners Movie, Attack The Block and How I Live Now. They have all been of a lower budget than most blockbuster movies and highlight how we can turn a good profit. They have also been of a good quality, which helps to build a larger audience fan base. We feel that Luna is also of the same high quality and will hopefully have the same outcome. We also know that your target audience is predominantly teenage girls, so we will make sure that any marketing techniques will be tailored towards them.

Have you worked in synergy with any other companies to distribute films?

Yes we have worked with the National Lottery. They have helped to fund some of our projects in the production process. This has helped us as it meant that we could create higher quality films, even though we aren't a very big company. As we are a British distribution company your target audience will be able to relate more to the film and what is going on, than if the film came from a foreign country.

How will you ensure that the message of our film will not be lost in whilst trying to return a profit?

When producing a film, we try not to concentrate on turning a profit. This is due to the fact that we are not a major distributor, so would rather spend time on creating a higher quality film.  This means that we are able to spread the message and meaning of your film, taking more time over it, as we know that it is more important to independent filmmakers. We spend less time and money on special effects to do this. However it is important to make some money so that we can continue creating great films, such as Luna.

What sort of budget do you normally have when making and distributing a film?

Your film is of a very low budget, similar to other films we have distributed. This means that you wouldn't need a major distributer such as Disney or the warner bros. as it would look really out of place compared to their other films. We also believe that your film will turn a huge profit as it cost next to nothing to create.

How long does the production process normally take?

The process normally takes around 3-4 weeks to film and 3-4 months to edit. This is because we use a high quality team that allows films, such as Luna to be filmed and edited over a short period of time.
